Zmack’s album, Rustbelt Rejects, is a raw, genre-bending portrait of life around Akron, Ohio. Drawing from Memphis trap, horrorcore, industrial music, sludge, funk-metal, new wave, dubstep and more, the album embraces contrast rather than convention. Its themes move through grief, identity, relationships, heritage and the stubborn resilience of overlooked places. Self-produced and recorded between home setups in Northeast Ohio, the eight-track album turns distorted bass, mechanical textures and unconventional sounds into a distinctive sonic landscape. Personal loss gives the record added weight, particularly through Zmack’s connection to his late friend CJ. Tracks such as Rust Sound and Dirty Muskrat highlight an artist building something uncompromisingly personal and proudly unpredictable.
